Terms of Use

What you may do with what we publish, what we disclose about money, and what we do not warrant. Written to be read once, in plain language.

The short answer

In short

Read anything here for free. Quote it with a link. Commercial relationships are disclosed on the page that carries them and never buy a ranking. Nothing published here is advice for your specific business, and prices and features change after publication.

The terms in full

  1. 1

    What this site is

The Insight Journal is an independent business and operations publication. It reports, explains, and compares. It is not a consultancy, and nothing on it is professional advice for your specific situation.

  2. 2

Use the writing, credit the source

Quote a paragraph, cite the page, link back. Republishing an article in full, or feeding it to a service that reproduces it as its own, is not permitted without written consent from the editors.

  3. 3

Affiliate links are disclosed, and never for sale

Some links to software vendors earn a commission. Every page carrying them says so above the comparison. No vendor pays for placement, ranking, or a better verdict, and no commission has ever changed one.

  4. 4

Guest posts are edited, not published on request

A pitch accepted at /write-for-us/ is still edited to the sourcing standard in the editorial policy. Claims that cannot be sourced are cut. Submitting a piece grants us the right to publish and edit it here; the author keeps the right to their own work elsewhere.

Which terms apply to you

Most readers are bound by the first two rows only. The rest apply once money or a submission is involved.

Which terms of use apply to each kind of visitor
You are What binds you What we owe you Where it is set out
A reader Quote with a link; do not republish in full Dated pages, cited claims, corrections when reported Clauses 1, 2 and 6
A reader following an affiliate link Nothing extra Disclosure above the comparison, and a ranking no commission touched Clause 3
A contributor Editing to the sourcing standard; we publish and edit here You keep your work for use elsewhere Clause 4
An advertiser Placement is labelled where it appears No editorial opinion is for sale Clause 5

Limits, links and changes

  1. 5

    Advertising is separated from editorial

Advertising and sponsorship are bought at /advertise/ and are labelled where they appear. They buy attention on this site. They do not buy an opinion in an article.

  2. 6

    What we do not warrant

Software pricing, feature sets, and market data change after a page is written. Every page carries the date it was last reviewed, and we correct errors when they are reported, but we cannot warrant that a figure is current at the moment you read it. Check the vendor before you spend money on the strength of it.

  3. 7

    Links to other sites

We link out because a claim needs a source. What happens on the destination site is governed by that site, and its accuracy, availability, and privacy practices are its own.

  4. 8

    Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the reviewed date at the top of this page changes with them. There is no separate notice, so the date is the record.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I quote an article?
Yes. Quote a paragraph or two, name The Insight Journal, and link to the page you took it from. Full republication needs written permission first.
Do you accept paid links inside articles?
No. Guest posts are accepted on editorial merit and advertising is sold as labelled placement. A link inside an article body is there because it supports the claim next to it.
Is anything on this site financial or legal advice?
No. Articles about cash flow, software, or operations describe how things generally work and cite their sources. They are not advice about your business, and no reader relationship is created by reading them.
How do I report something wrong or ask for a correction?
Email [email protected] with the page and the sentence. Verified corrections are made promptly and the reviewed date is updated, as set out in the editorial policy.
